Destruxins are metabolites of the fungus Metarhizium anisopliae. Destruxins are also produced by Alternaria brassicae. Chemically, these substances are classified as cyclic hexa-depsipeptides. They possess insecticidal, anti-viral, and phytotoxic properties. Recently, there is also growing interest in their toxicity to cancer cells.
