Fermentek is a leading biotechnology manufacturer.
Our focus is on the development and manufacture of biologically active products isolated from nonpathogenic microorganisms (actinomycetes, Nocardia and Streptomyces and Fungi (Penicillium, Aspergillus, Fusarium). We are skilled in the production of customized, quality and high purity antibiotics and mycotoxins for research purposes at an affordable price. Deliveries to the customer are achieved within a short time frame.
Who We Are
Fermentek Ltd. was established by Dr. Yosef Behrend in 1994 and managed by him ever since.
He has been a fighter and a pioneer since his youth when he contracted polio and it became clear to him, at that early age, that he would be paralyzed and forced to move around using crutches for the rest of his life. Even then, the young Yosef understood two very important principles: never give up and be creative in dealing with challenges. These two principles have guided him to this very day, and he has passed them on to the Fermentek team. We are always looking for creative ideas and do not give up until we find a solution...giving you – our customer – exactly what you need.
What We Do
Fermentek specializes in the research, development, and production of rare substances, usually created in a fermentation process or by plant extraction. We mainly produce natural substances, by-products of microorganisms such as molds and bacteria. We produce more than 200 products on site and have our finger on the pulse of cutting-edge research, always seeking opportunities to produce new products and innovative processes for mycotoxins, secondary metabolite plant extracts, and other exceptional Fine Biochemicals to constantly develop and produce more and more new products.
Fermentek's manufacturing facility is located in Jerusalem – revered by many as the Holy City – and features a range of industrial fermenters, quality purification equipment, and above all a well-qualified, experienced and dedicated development and production team of microbiologists, biotechnologists and chemists, each with an average of more than 20 years’ experience.
